Procurement of Gold Standard Spot CERs

INFRAS is advising the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs with the procurement of Gold Standard Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) from emission reduction projects in India since 2007. The project compensates emissions from in-service air travel. Up to now, 33'000 Gold Standard CERs have been purchased in three tranches from two different projects in India (Malavalli Biomass Power Plant and Sri Balaji Biomass Power Project). INFRAS' role included tendering, due diligence of projects, structuring and closing of the transactions. The cooperation with project hosts contributes to SDC’s significant partner relations aquired through multiple energy and environment programmes implemented in India since the mid 1990ies.
