iMONITRAF! - Sustainable Alpine Transit traffic

Establishing a common monitoring system and developing a political network are only the first tasks of the new INTERREG project iMONITRAF. Within its three-year project cycle, the Alpine regions also want to lay the foundation for the harmonisation of existing measures and for implementing innovative measures as the Alpine Crossing Exchange.
iMONITRAF integrates expertise and views of transport and environmental experts from Alpine regions in Switzerland, Austria, France and Italy and has as overall objective to reduce transalpine traffic and its impacts. Based on the experience of the predecessor project MONITRAF, the project also integrated the political sphere and wants to give the common voice of the Alpine regions a platform with an Annual Transport Forum. The first Transport Forum took place in Innsbruck on May 26th and 27th. 110 Participants received information about the initial activities of the project and delivered inputs for the further development of a strategy.
INFRAS has supported Central Switzerland as Lead Partner of the project already in the preparation phase and will assist iMONITRAF until its end in 2012 with issues concerning content and organisation.
