1975-1980 studies in physics at the University of Basel, Master's Degree in theoretical physics. 1980-83 research assistant at the Institute for Physics of the University of Basel; Doctorate in theoretical physics with a dissertation on chaotic systems. 1983-1984 postgraduate course in sanitary engineering and water quality management of the Swiss Federal Institute on Water Research and Water pollution Control EAWAG/ETH in Zurich and research associate in the project "air quality and air pollution" (no. 14) of the Swiss National Science Foundation. Jürg Heldstab joined INFRAS in 1984, focusing on air quality control, transport, assessment of environmental impacts, non-ionising radiation, waste management, wastewater. 1996-1997 continuing education introductory course on personal management. 2001-2007 extraofficial teacher of mathematics at the cantonal school for IT service engineers. 1998-2008 senior project manager, since 2009 member of INFRAS management, responsible for the sectors environment and climate change.
