Othmar Schwank is a biologist and agronomist with post graduate
studies in international cooperation (INDEL, ETH Zürich).
In 1984 he completed his PhD thesis on growth conditions in managed
grassland at the Department of Crop Science, ETH Zürich. 1984–1988
project co-manager "Tinau Watershed Project" for HELVETAS
and GTZ in Nepal. Since 1988, INFRAS project manager in the fields
of environment and international development.
Since 1991 until 2010 member of INFRAS management with responsibilities
and mandates for a variety of clients in environmental management
and natural resource policies, technology transfer under global
environment agreements and management of projects in international
technical cooperation. Since 2000 specialized in moderation, organizational
development. UNFCCC expert (Member of the CGE for “non-Annex
I National Communications”). Carbon finance involvements
with the World Bank and the Swiss Government. Advisor to Global
Environmental Facility GEF. Between 2000–2007 UNFCCC-expert
for climate change and developing countries. In 2007 he received
a certificate from the IPCC climate council in recognition of his
work for the Nobel Prize for Peace for contributing significantly
to research regarding the north-south technology transfer.
