Telecommunications, information technology, and the media are converging, and the rapid dynamics of the process is making its mark on the economy and society. New products and societal models are creating new opportunities for market actors, but at the same time they must face the challenges of intensive competition and market uncertainties. Politicians and scientists, on the other hand, must grapple with the question of the effects of the current transformation towards an information society and discover policies that will support that change.
