Nicole Loumeau works in the areas of environment, climate, and energy with a focus on economic analyses, national and international climate policies and sustainable development.
She studied International Economics (University of Tübingen) and Philosophy & Economics (University of Bayreuth) and then did a PhD at ETH Zurich in the field of applied economics and economic geography. Her dissertation on the influence of economic policy measures on the spatial distribution of economic activity was awarded the ETH Medal. After completing her studies, she worked as a project manager at the KOF Swiss Economic Institute in the field of innovation economics. At KOF she worked primarily on research projects that analyzed regional determinants of knowledge and technology transfer on innovation performance. She was also involved in the econometric evaluation of the first representative study on the status of the circular economy transition in Switzerland.
