On 6th May 2011, during a closing event, the regional study on the Lake Constance 2000-Watt-Society developed by INFRAS and Amstein + Walthert AG was presented. The event was attended by approximately 80 representatives of the communes and cities of the extended Lake Constance area. This regional study, commissioned by seven cities within the framework of the Interreg IV-programme, illustrates the present state of the region with regard to greenhouse gas emmissions and energy consumption and how big the potential regarding renewable energies is. Additionally, a strategy is being proposed on how the cities and communes of the area can jointly develop towards a 2000-Watt-Society. Based on concrete measures, initial steps are being substantiated. In the scope of this project, a charter of the 2000-Watt-Cities in the Lake Constance region was launched. The charter will serve to include additional cities and communes of the region, to coordinate objectives jointly and to establish an active network for the achievement of said objectives.
