A first time comprehensive view of the cost and benefit of land transport

Road and Rail transport generate multifaceted benefits for individuals as well as for the economy, but they also cause cost for road users and public authorities. A comprehensive analysis made by the Federal Office for Spatial Development(ARE), the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (SFSO) and INFRAS makes it possible to obtain a first time overall view of land transport with regard to cost and benefit as well as the relevant financing. This comprehensive view is an affirmation of the present Swiss transport policy.
