Approval of new CDM Methodologies for manufacturing of climate friendly refrigerator appliances

The Executive Board to the UN-based Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) has approved two new CDM Methodologies for manufacturing of energy efficient domestic refrigerators (Methodology AM0070) and for manufacturing and servicing of refrigerators using refrigerants with low global warming potential (Methodology AM0071). The methodologies were developed by INFRAS in co-operation with South Pole Carbon and Winrock International (India). The methodologies build on several innovative elements, such as:

• First Methodologies to claim for emission reductions from manufacturing of consumer durables.
• First Methodology to include a market benchmark approach for energy efficient consumer durables(AM0070)
• First Methodology to cover proof of additionality under the market benchmark (AM0070).
