Competition in the retail business is tough and further aggravated through the presence of foreign discounters. Commissioned by the trade-union Unia, INrate evaluated if this affects the working conditions. INFRAS carried out this task for INrate. According to precisely defined criteria covering the key values of the working conditions, same working conditions at Aldi, Carre-four, Coop, Denner, Migros and Volg were systematically examined. Best results were obtained by Coop and Migros. Mean values were reached by Volg and Carrefour, and below average were Denner and Aldi.
