Commuter mobility in Switzerland

Dec. 22, 2004
Over 60% of the working population of Switzerland does not work where they live, and almost 60% drive to work by car. Public Transport has lost ground quite significantly. Additionally, the five agglomerations of Zürich, Basel, Bern, Lausanne and Geneva are growing and use more space. These are the results of eleven survey analyses of the census in 2002, commissioned by the Federal Office of Statistics. The final report can be ordered from the Federal Office of Statistics, (032/713 60 60, order@bfs.admin.ch), Order no. 001-0029 «Pendlermobilität in der Schweiz».
