Digital Television in Switzerland

The implementation of digital television in Switzerland has already begun at certain levels, but many questions regarding technological, economic, and regulatory aspects remain unanswered. This study analyses the role of the broadcasting sector in Switzerland, synthesizes experiences with digital television from field trials and questionnaires, and projects the future market diffusion of digital TV in Switzerland. Special attention is given to driving forces and barriers in the analog to digital migration process. Strategy options for minimising risks in the digitalisation process are presented.
