In the scope of a project of the Federal Offices for Agriculture (FOAG) and for the Environment (FOEN), INFRAS identified the most important gaps in knowledge in the Swiss agriculture nitrogen cycle. Based on interviews with national and international researchers in the field of nitrogen research as well as on comprehensive literature search, gaps in knowledge were identified. With the help of the updated analysis of Switzerland's nitrogen cycle and based on the criteria nutrition/sustainability, global developments/climate change, society/economy, synthetic research approach and spatial aspects these gaps in knowledge were prioritised and summarised.
