«How many classrooms will we need in future? Do we need to construct new buildings or can the existing schools be used more efficiently?» These questions were addressed by a project group consisting of representatives of the school and sports department, the department of structural engineering, district supervisory school committees, and INFRAS as an external consultant. The project group has developed proposals for the optimisation of future classroom planning to predict and address future needs more efficiently. The building blocks of these proposals are:
- A manual of complete procedures and workflow for long-term planning of classroom space to facilitate co-ordination of the process both within and outside public administration departments.
- A forecast of future needs for classroom space for all schools in Zurich to the year 2007.
This forecast is to be updated every year. An overview of the needs of classroom space in Zurich can be downloaded (this document is in German).
