In the last years, the climate community focused on the project-based Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) reform towards a more programme-oriented approach. Conceptual and regulatory settings for standardised approaches have been a key building block for this CDM reform and its transition away from the conventional CDM with its project-by-project approach. Furthermore, New Market Mechanisms (NAMA) have entered the scene since UNFCCC decisions in Cancún and Durban. INFRAS on behalf of the KfW-banking group has analysed and discussed approaches on how to use the vast and rich body of existing methodologies and tools in the CDM for further up-scaling of mitigation activities such as Programmes of Activities and New Market Mechanism.
