The aim of the COST initiatives is to promote co-ordination and networking of international research activities in Europe. The Swiss contribution focuses on Web-based learning processes (WebLeaP) within the scope of the COST 269 initiative entitled "User Aspects of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT)." The project, which runs until the year 2003, is designed to provide a counterweight to technology-oriented projects by emphasising the effectiveness of Web-based teaching and the pedagogical-didactic factors underlying its success. The Swiss research group is comprised of representatives of Rapperswil College of Higher Education, the University of Basle, the Pfäffikon Study Centre as well as two private partners, namely INFRAS and Mauch Consulting.
