Nicolas Schmid

Nicolas Schmid is a Senior Project Manager in the areas of climate and energy. His focus is on climate and energy strategies and measures, as well as political feasibility and implementation.

Nicolas studied political science at the University of Stuttgart, Sciences Po Bordeaux, and the University of Toronto. He then conducted research on energy and climate politics at ETH Zurich and UC Berkeley. After his PhD, awarded with the ETH Medal, he worked as a senior researcher at ETH Zurich in the fields of international climate policy, renewable energy, and political economy. Nicolas has published his work in leading journals such as Nature Climate Change or Energy Policy. He has many years of experience in international research and consulting projects, through field research in Madagascar, or case studies on the USA, France, Germany, South Africa or Switzerland.
In addition to his work at INFRAS, Nicolas is an Affiliated Researcher at the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) in Milan.
