Ursina Walther is active in the areas of traffic and environment as well as the economics of traffic, with focus on external environmental costs, traffic emissions, alternative propulsion technologies and traffic decarbonization.

She studied environmental sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). During her doctoral studies at the ETHZ, she examined how plants can adjust to changing environmental conditions in times of climate change. In addition to her doctoral studies, she earned a Diploma of Advanced Studies in applied statistics. After completion of her studies, she directed the development of a research database, supported research projects with statistical advice, and was active in teaching.
