New forms of work and their impacts on traffic - Prestudy

June 1, 2005
Along the international trends of globalisation and flexibilisation forms of work are changing. Working hours are becoming more flexible, places of work change more often, part-time-jobs increase and new forms of work such as teleworking or desksharing emerge. These trends and their impacts on transport have already been analyzed in various Swiss and foreign studies . Yet, they deal only with partial aspects. What is still missing is an overall view of the different effects and the interpretation regarding the Swiss planning directives. This study gives - as a prestudy - such an overall view of the new forms of work and their impacts on transport. Furthermore, the study analyzes the need for adjusting planning directives both in road and public traffic.
