Ammonia reduction measures are to be taken by the farmers. The task force «agriculture/environmental protection of the International Lake of Constance Conference» (IBK: Internationale Bodenseekonferenz) compiled measures to reduce the ammonia emissions in the Lake of Constance area. The IBK project running from 2008 to 2010 pursues the intention to support farm-based measures cross-nationally, to strengthen the farmers best practice, and to compile recommendations for the governments of the individual regions. Recommendations to foster low-emission liquid manure applications are already developed and should be considered. INFRAS is/was supporting the IBK task force in the elaboration of a preliminary project design (2007) and the implementation of the measures (2008-2010).
