Repercussions of the KVG on Service Providers

Nov. 28, 2003

The KVG generated or started up various processes among service providers, without reaching the main aim, which was to cut costs:

  • The concerned parties have made little use of existing alternative insurance options and hospital planning possibilities.
  • The principal cost cutting instruments (hospital planning, alternative insurance options, setting rates) have had limited, i.e. unsatisfactory impact.
  • The KVG has failed to introduce sufficient incentives for providers to improve co-ordination.
