The business environment for industrial sectors and companies is undergoing constant change. If the companies do not acknowledge these changes or recognise them tardily, shocking structural changes may happen. The study made by INFRAS in the context of Structural Reporting of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) compares economic development of export-oriented sectors in three Swiss regions with corresponding developments in three foreign regions. The study investigates the cause of structural changes. It also highlights the important role of companies and public administration in recognising and managing early impending structural disruptions. SECO's webpage also offers additional information on other studies with regard to structural changes and structural disruptions.
