What risks do climate change and the energy transition pose for the Swiss energy supply? And what measures contribute to resilience? Together with four universities and two partner companies from the private sector, INFRAS is addressing these questions in the RECIPE consortium.

A look at the present situation, past developments – and forecasts up to 2060: INFRAS has prepared a report on air pollutant emissions from road transport for the federal government. Modelling results show how stricter regulations affect the rate of emission reductions.

The annual Eurostat monitoring report shows how the EU is doing with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals by analysing the development of the 17 SDGs. INFRAS once again contributed to the analysis for the 2024 edition.  

Cooperation between different actors as a way to protect the climate: Climate alliances play an important role. For the Umweltbundesamt, the Federal Environment Agency of Germany, a research project with the participation of INFRAS is investigating how such cooperations can be effectively designed. 

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is the central authority for financing climate and environmental protection measures in developing countries. Switzerland has a seat on the GEF Council. INFRAS supports the Federal Office for the Environment by providing project evaluations.

The effects of climate change are already both tangible and measurable in Switzerland. Climate policy aims to respond to the issue. But what will things be like in 70 or so years? An ongoing research project illustrates potential socioeconomic and political developments of Swiss climate policy. INFRAS is in charge of implementing the project. 

The Climate Ledger Initiative (CLI) aims to accelerate climate action by using digital innovation. In its Navigating Report 2023, the international multi-stakeholder initiative, which is coordinated by INFRAS, looks back at important milestones and provides an outlook on digitalisation trends.

Which climate-related risks must be anticipated by actors of development cooperation in the coming one to three years? For the third time, INFRAS has identified regional and global hotspots of climate risks and summarized key developments for the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). 

Towards which of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals is the EU making progress and where is it lagging behind? The Vienna University of Economics and Business, the Ecologic Institute and INFRAS have been examining development within the EU on an annual basis since 2016. The 2023 Eurostat Monitoring Report looks at the impact of the coronavirus pandemic for the first time.
