Increase of Economic Importance of Geoinformation

The volume of the private geoinformation market has reached CHF 800 million - with rising tendency. While in the fields cartography and survey a market saturation becomes more and more recognisable, the turnover in the fields navigation and logistics continues to rise. Furthermore, so-called 'open data offers' play a shaping role in the market development. This is how it is perceived by the suppliers and in the majority of cases, they notice a positive impact of geoinformation products on their course of business. There is an enhanced demand for digital elevation models, traffic data, network asset registers and environmental data. While the users show a growing demand for high actuality of geoinformation, there is decrease of importance of its accuracy.
