E-fuels are intended to make sectors that are difficult to electrify more climate-friendly. But how resilient are their production systems to disruptions? INFRAS is developing an assessment framework to systematically evaluate the resilience of various power-to-liquid routes.  

Climate change does not affect everyone in the same way. On behalf of the Federal Office for the Environment, INFRAS has analysed which groups of people in Switzerland are particularly vulnerable to climate change and why. The findings provide a basis for the further development of the adaptation policy in Switzerland. 

In the building sector, a large share of CO2 emissions are generated during the construction phase. An important lever for reducing these grey emissions are conversions instead of new replacements. INFRAS has been looking for solutions on behalf of the federal government to reduce barriers to conversions and refurbishments.  

Switzerland is on the tip of the next phase of its energy transition. The focus is shifting from the expansion of renewable energy to its efficient integration into the energy system. The APPRAISE research project, in which INFRAS is participating, is developing a policy roadmap on behalf of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy to ensure that the integration of renewable energy is cost-effective and efficient. 

Low carbon and resilient buildings in practice: The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has been committed to llow carbon nd resilient buildings for mseveralyears. A comprehensive evaluation of this commitment documents the experiences and lessons learned from the projects. The goal is to make this knowledge available to future projects.

Linking environmental and economic statistics: The greenhouse gas emission accounts approach analyzes greenhouse gas emissions by economic activity. INFRAS analyzed and processed data for Eurostat for this purpose. This economic perspective on emissions makes it possible to assign a greenhouse gas footprint to goods and services.

Eurostat's new monitoring report shows how the European Union is progressing towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The 2026 edition assesses short- and long-term trends using more than 100 indicators, and places the findings in the context of EU policies. INFRAS has again conducted a review of five SDGs.

Social dynamics and climate challenges are closely intertwined. This is the conclusion of two analyses on governance and gender that INFRAS prepared for the Swiss Confederation. The analyses highlight the implications for development cooperation.

What will Switzerland look like in the year 2100? How will greenhouse gas emissions develop over the next 70 years? A federal research project identifies possible socio-economic and political developments - and, under the leadership of INFRAS, models potential greenhouse gas emissions.
